<itunes:subtitle>Covenant Life Christian Church is a non-denominational, conservative, contemporary church based upon the Word of God.</itunes:subtitle>
<itunes:summary>The emphasis of our podcasts are to help establish, strengthen, save, and restore family, marriage and life relationships. We see a need in the foundations of our society and it is in crisis as evidenced by the high divorce rate, soaring out-of-wedlock birth rates, sexual activity among adolescent children, decreasing numbers of two-parent households, increasing cases of spousal and child abuse, and growing indifference to marriage. It is our desire that this audio production is a blessing to your life

Living Under Authority: The Key to Liberty - Part 3

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
What does the Bible say about Freedom and Independence? 1 Peter 2:16 "As free, and not using [your] liberty for a cloak of maliciousness, but as the servants of God." Galatians 5:1 "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." When you live under the rule and authority of Jesus Christ, Freedom is given and maintained and you will walk in liberty and victory… But when a Nation rejects the Authority of God… that Nation turns to things which produce bondages and that Nation will eventually come under bondage and loose it’s liberty and freedom… In Edward Gibbon’s classic work, The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire, there were five major causes for the decline and fall of the Roman Empire. 1. The breakdown of the family and the increase of divorce. 2. The spiraling rise of taxes and extravagant spending. 3. The mounting desire for pleasure and the brutalization of sports. 4. The continual production of armaments to face ever increasing threats of enemy attacks. 5. The decay of religion into many confusing forms, leaving the people without a uniform faith. I think it is very significant that these factors are present in our Nation today.”As American Christians we take so much for granted. Let’s discover how freedom and authority work together in this message.

Messages in Mark: The Greatness of Serving - Part 2

If you knew the key, the answer, the magic formula, the fail proof system for you to become a success in every area of your life, your marriage and family, your business and career, your life with God… would you use it? Jesus gives us that key and that very principle and we are going to look at it in the Gospel according to Mark… And that Key is this… becoming a “servant” in everything you do… Servant hood is God’s way to greatness… if you desire to be the greatest, you must become the servant of all… are the words of Christ… And the principle is this: Be motivated and enthusiastic to make others around you successful in their life and pursuits… As the old quote goes: “He who gives when he is asked has waited too long.” Isn’t that the truth… true servant hood is severely lacking in most believers lives… they desire to serve, they may even esteem themselves as real servants because of involvement, but are we really true servants? It has been said that Most people wish to serve God – but in an advisory capacity only. But that is not real servant hood now is it… Jerry Bridges said this… “We all know people, even unbelievers, who seem to be natural servants. They are always serving others one way or another. But God does not get the glory; they do. It is their reputation that is enhanced. But when we, natural servants or not, serve in dependence upon the grace of God with the strength He supplies, God is glorified.”

Messages in Mark - Part 5: Defiling Leaven

Do we have the Word of God as living and active in our lives or do we have legalistic traditions which cause us to miss the power of God’s Word because we lay it aside in order to perform our traditions? This is nothing less than a colliding of Kingdoms… Jesus and humanity which is in darkness; by their self imposed religious legalisms… John Piper said, “Let us not be deceived by outward appearances. Satan “disguises himself as an angel of light” (2 Cor. 11:14). He keeps his deadliest diseases most sanitary. He clothes his captains in religious garments and houses his weapons in temples. Legalism is a more dangerous disease than alcoholism because it doesn't look like one. Alcoholism makes men fail; legalism helps them succeed in the world. Alcoholism makes men depend on the bottle; legalism makes them self-sufficient, depending on no one. Alcoholism destroys moral resolve; legalism gives it strength. Alcoholics don't feel welcome in the church; legalists love to hear their morality extolled in church…” The Pharisees operated on the assumption that the defilement and corruption of a person’s soul came from the things outside of them… From the situations and circumstances we come into contact with in this world… So we develop our own axioms like… “I was born on the wrong side of town… “or the tracks” “I didn’t have the upbringing I should have had” And the proverbial statements… “My parents weren’t the kind of parents a kid should have had…” But Jesus shows us that the defilement and corruption of our souls arises from within us… He takes away all blame shifting and excuses… He shows us that our hearts are polluted, defiled, corrupt, and depraved. All men since the sin and fall of our Adam, are totally depraved at heart. And that fallen nature has affected our mind, our very nature and hearts.

<itunes:summary>Do we have the Word of God as living and active in our lives or do we have legalistic traditions which cause us to miss the power of God’s Word because we lay it aside in order to perform our traditions?
We are creatures who seek… we seek satisfaction, we seek comfort and pleasure, we seek survival and protection, and we seek love and acceptance… Whoever you are and from whatever background you have come from, you are seekers… And Christians are really no different in this regards to the unconverted if they are seeking the wrong things and not the right things… As Christians it is imperative for us to be seeking the rights things while in this world, and not the wrong things… I believe that is what truly separates and differentiates between people… the things that they seek for… RC Sproul Jr. said, “If there were such a thing as a seeker, what would he be seeking? The church growth movement seems to believe he would be seeking more of the same. In a world consumed with lighthearted entertainment, we offer up less professional, less entertaining lighthearted entertainment? Why, I keep wondering, would a “seeker” get up on a Sunday morning, and travel to some giant box to hear a third rate rock band preceding a third rate comic giving a third rate “message” that leaves him in the same state that he arrived in?” What are you seeking?

The War with the Truth - Memorial Day Message

This is a weekend for remembering the ones who died in our nation’s service. Today, my prayers goes out to those families who have lost a loved one and especially to those whose memories are fresh, hardly far enough in the past to be called “memory”—friends and family of American military personnel who will not return to them from the Middle East and Afghanistan. This is a weekend for all Americans to give thanks for what God has given us through the sacrifice of all the men and women who have died for our country. However great the faults of our government and whatever our dissatisfactions, we have much to be grateful for. We are a nation at war, and we are living in times of wars and rumors of wars… Jesus said in Matthew 24, "In the end of the age there shall be wars and rumors of wars." It's not going to change. Not going to change until that great final conflict of the Antichrist when the Lord Jesus comes back as the final warrior and forever wins the victory and the Prince of Peace sets up His eternal Kingdom… We have natural wars going on; but also you and I must never forget we are also in a spiritual war… C.H. Spurgeon said, “We ought to regard the church not as a luxurious hostelry where Christian gentlemen may each one dwell at ease in his own inn, but as a barracks in which soldiers are gathered together to be drilled and trained for war. We should regard the church not as an association for mutual admiration and comfort, but as an army with banners, marching to the fray, to achieve victories for Christ, to storm the strongholds of the foe, and to add province after province to the redeemer’s kingdom…”

Why is it that God desires to root out our self-sufficiency? I believe God brings to us into difficult situations in order to drive out self sufficiency in us. Peter the Apostle said out of his own strength, “If I must die with you Lord, I will die…” But Jesus told Peter that He would deny Him three times. Jesus foretold this trial by saying "...strike the shepherd and the sheep will scatter..." so Peter was lead into affliction to bring deliverance and healing to his self sufficiency. Before I was afflicted I went astray: BUT NOW have I kept thy word (Psalm 119:67).

The Holy Root of the Church - Pentecost Sunday

CH Spurgeon said, “Without the Spirit of God we can do nothing. We are as ships without wind or chariots without steeds. Like branches without sap, we are withered. Like coals without fire, we are useless. As an offering without the sacrificial flame, we are unaccepted.” Christians are to be spiritual, super natural, through the power of the Holy Spirit… The Holy Spirit is so vital and necessary for your Christian walk and life… Jesus emphasized the coming of the Holy Spirit to the disciples before and after His death and resurrection… Luke 24: 49 Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high."Jesus told His disciples that the Holy Spirit would come to them… Joh 7:39 - But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those believing in Him would receive; for the Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified. This is how the Church was born in the earth… through a supernatural event… The heritage of the church is supernatural… the root of our origin is supernatural and of God… we cannot deny this truth away… There is a spiritual principle found in Rom 11:16… 16 For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches. The church has a holy Heritage.

Many Christians believe today that the Laws of God have no relevance to their life now that Grace and the Gospel have come. I believe that has been a great detriment to the Gospel and to the church in general. Here in our Nation’s elections we are seeing a grass roots movement beginning to gain momentum because people are tired of the hypocrisy and indulgence and promiscuity in our governmental leaders. We see people beginning to cry out for our constitution to be upheld and that this nation returns to its roots. Likewise I believe there is also something similar happening in the church at a grass roots level. People are tired of ministers and ministries being in the news for their scandals, financial opulence and straying from the truth. People desire the truth of God’s Word and a pure move of the Holy Spirit.

Staying on track and not being distracted is one of the most difficult things that we can do when trying to fulfill the “will” of God for our lives. How many of you have ever found it easy to get distracted when you have something important for you to finish? The scripture is full of exhortations that speak to us not to allow anything to distract us from what the Lord has called us to do concerning Vision. Stephen Anderson said, “Vision can sometimes be a terrible burden. God may give a vision without the context of the time it will take to become the vision. Sometimes church leaders feel that because they have a vision, it must happen quickly. I am reminded of Joseph and the vision he had from God. I wonder how often Joseph sat in that jail cell expecting to be delivered at any moment, when it was going to be over 13 years until he was free and God’s vision began to manifest itself. What a long time and much preparation between vision and the working out of the vision! Wisdom would dictate that we prepare to do what we can when we can, and then wait on the Lord and His timing to bring the vision to fruition.” This message is for the family and the fathers to fulfill their responsibility in the Gospel for the future generations.

<itunes:summary>Staying on track and not being distracted is one of the most difficult things that we can do when trying to fulfill the “will” of God for our lives. Wisdom would dictate that we prepare to do what we can when we can, and then wait on the Lord and His timing to bring the vision to fruition.” This message is for the family and the fathers to fulfill their responsibility in the Gospel for the future generations.</itunes:summary>

The Message of the Cross - Part 4

Part 4 - What does the “Cross of Christ” mean to you? What is the “Message of the Cross” to you? These are the questions we are going to begin to answer over the next few weeks as we are approaching the season where we acknowledge the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Oswald Chambers said, “All heaven is interested in the cross of Christ, all hell terribly afraid of it, while men are the only beings who more or less ignore its meaning.” John Macarthur said, “Here is why all the central truths of the gospel focus on the cross: It reveals how heinous our sin is. It shows the intensity of God’s wrath against sin. It reveals the great love of God in paying such a high price for redemption. But it also serves as a fitting metaphor for the cost of following Christ. Jesus himself spoke repeatedly of the cross in those terms.” 1 Corinthians 1:18: "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God." Whenever we lose sight of the Cross in our Christian living, we lose the power of our salvation. We must return again and again to the cross of Jesus Christ if we are to have the power of God in our Christian living, our Christian service, our Christian ministry.

Christ's Purchased Possession

If you are a Christian, do you realize that you are somebody’s slave? Tonight I want to talk to you about you being a purchased possession of Jesus Christ. This message is not relevant to today’s seeker sensitive messages being preached; today’s western Christianity speaks very little to the ownership of Christ over you and I. As a matter of fact, western Christianity speaks more to the idolization of self than it does to the Lordship of Christ. But make no mistake, Jesus Christ is Lord and He owns you whether or not you are saved. But we have fashioned Christianity in the western culture that says we have a right to our self determination, self will and self fulfillment of all our fleshly desires. Paul House said “…clearly many Christians have not embraced the fact that Christians must be committed to Christ and His teachings. They may have mentally assented to certain gospel facts...joined a church...repeated a prayer...walked forward at an evangelistic meeting. But by any biblical measurement they were never converted. There was no transforming conviction of sin, no repentance, no commitment to Christ's lordship, no love for those who love Christ.”

Have you ever wondered if God really hears your cries in the times of trials, stress and affliction? Well, today I want to show you that when you cry out to God, He hears your cries. CH Spurgeon said, “We may expect answers to prayer, and should not be easy without them any more than we should be if we had written a letter to a friend upon important business, and had received no reply...” There are many of you here today going through various trials and afflictions and you are wondering if God even hears what you are saying and asking Him. Andrew Murray said, “Beware in your prayers, above everything else, of limiting God, not only by unbelief, but by fancying that you know what He can do. Expect unexpected things, “above all that we ask or think.” Each time, before you Intercede, be quiet first, and worship God in His glory. Think of what He can do, and how He delights to hear the prayers of His redeemed people. Think of your place and privilege in Christ, and expect great things!” Psalms 50:15 NKJ Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me."

Our desire is as you hear these words you will be inspired from biblical counsel to walk this life out in obedience to Christ.

What does true love look like? What is real love? What is the right kind of love you should be looking for? These are all powerful questions that each one of us, male and female, young and old alike have asked in our life at one time or another. We all are looking for real and true love but what is that? It was once said that “God has given us people to love and things to use, not people to use and things to love.” Jonathan Edwards said, “There are people who love those who agree with them and admire them, but have no time for those who oppose and dislike them. A Christian’s love must be universal!” Loving others in a biblical manner involves your thoughts, words, and actions and is a sign of being a disciple of Christ. Loving others biblically is dependent on your commitment to the Lord Jesus Christ and is not dependent on people, circumstances, or your feelings. Part 3 of Biblical Love.

Deuteronomy - Part 3: The Heart and the Law

And what I want to take you through today is a contrast between the Law and the Gospel…Samuel Bolton said, “The Law sends us to the gospel for our justification; the Gospel sends us to the Law to frame our way of life… Christ has freed us from the manner of our obedience, but not from the matter of our obedience…” C.H. Spurgeon said, “The Law stirs the mud at the bottom of the pool and proves how foul the waters are…” Deut speaks to the condition of our hearts… it always has. But what happened was man ritualized the Law of God, and began to perform its ceremonies without faith… Man has always had the tendency and capacity to take the wonderful things of God and trivialize them or ritualize them and make the shallow and empty… We take His Word and we take away from it or we add to it… we stop saying things that God explicitly said and we say things that God didn’t say… God has always desired for the heart of man to be impacted by His Law… Kind of like us today as we grow further away from our salvation experience… When the burdens of sin were lifted from our hearts and Christ became real to our hearts… We prayed and felt the cool refreshing presence of the Lord; and illumination happened every time we would open up His Word… We delighted in His presence and He delighted for us to be in His presence… But then somehow something begins to shift, life goes on, responsibilities are assumed and going to church, praying and reading become just a routine of our life… but our hearts are truly not in it.

As Christians we are not to be self-centered or others-centerd, all of our blessings and provision and security comes from us being God centered in everything we do.

Children are supposed to be a blessing. Children are supposed to be a joy. Children are supposed to be a blessing from the Lord to grace our lives with fulfillment and meaning and happiness and satisfaction. They are given for our joy and yet sometimes they turn out to be heartbreak upon heartbreak upon heartbreak. But in today’s thinking children are a burden, and those who praise the thought of having children must be ridiculed, berated, and even silenced. You must ask yourself what is behind this behavior. After all, there are two things in this life that is 100% verifiable and true. We all started out as babies; And we all our going to die. death mortality is 100%. Now we have new arguments in our culture that says that having babies hurts the economy because it limits women from expressing their independence and liberation from the home by serving in the workforce. In this message learn about the importance placed upon children in the Word of God.

Have you ever found it difficult to change yourself? Have you ever been so thoroughly exasperated by the soul searching and by the fleeting answers to making something inherently wrong inside of you more Christ like? In Psalms 51 as we address the question of how we reform our soul… The Word of God gives us a mandate to “work out” our own salvation. It is each of our responsibility before Christ to let the Word reach into the very depths of our soul. Philippians 2:12 NKJ Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

What was 2009 like for you? Did it turn out the way you thought it would? Did you accomplish everything you set your mind to do at the end of 2008? Did you make some mistakes you wish you wouldn’t have made? Did you live this past year to the fullest, or did you coast this year as any other year? All these are good contemplations of the heart to consider as we enter into another year… Your life is lived by design not default. If you don’t plan your life you will live your life at the easiest level. This coming year, live your life in God’s plan which He has prepared beforehand that we should walk in it. Ephesians 2:10 NKJ “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them…” The bible teaches us that we should live circumspectly, with awareness, vigilantly and watchfully. In this teaching at the closing of 2009 you will get a fresh heart for the year 2010.

In this teaching at the closing of 2009 you will get a fresh heart for the year 2010.</itunes:summary>

Have you ever felt the hand of God upon you as a heavy warning? Have you ever had unexpected circumstances rise up in your life that you felt were a warning from God? Have you ever had your friends speak to you as though God was speaking through them concerning things going on in your life, and you know your friends didn't have natural knowledge about those things?
