“You Are Special” is our biggest and fastest growing ministry here at CLCC. It is loved by those who serve in it because the chance is provided to give freely, as we have been freely given to. It allows us to show the gracious heart of God to those who are in need. Many participants have walked away from the community outreaches blessed and filled with joy knowing that they were used by God to bless others.
“As I knocked on the doors of the families, and saw their faces when their children received Christmas presents, or bags full of Thanksgiving dinner, the joy I felt was amazing, and I could feel God’s love for these people inside of my own heart.”

Proverbs 19:17 says “He who
has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and He will
pay back what he has given.
Psalm 28:27 says “The one who gives to the poor
will not be in need, but one who turns his eyes awaywill
receive many curses.
Proverbs 31:9 Open your mouth, judge righteously,
And plead the cause of the poor and needy.
The Word of God clearly shows us our place in the community. The question remains to be “If we were gone, would our community miss us?” We just want to serve like Jesus did. He has given all of us life in Him, and we would like to show Him to every person we give to.

YAS began with the giving away of backpacks to the homeless. We fill the backpacks with non-perishable food items, water, and a Bible. Congregant members then take the backpacks in their cars and whenever they see someone in need, they give them the backpack.
At the end of each summer, we provide backpacks for school aged children stuffed full of school supplies so they are set and ready to go back to school.
At Thanksgiving, we pack grocery bags full of a great dinner for low-income families. Last year, we were able to help those whose homes had been destroyed by the fires in Blackstar Canyon. That was a true blessing to help them and bring a smile to their face in difficult times.
At Christmas, we volunteer at Toys for Tots and receive hundreds of toys that we wrap ourselves, and give away to families in need.
The biggest ministry we have is our Food Rescue and Giveaway Ministry. Every week volunteers from CLCC are picking up food at places such as Google, Olive Garden, Fresh and Easy, Starbucks, and Cravery Bakery. We bag these items, and give each family enough food for four days. People line up outside, waiting to receive their food. As they come in they are instantly provided with bags full of meat, canned goods, bread, and everyday dairy products. Then, they can choose from a selection of milk, fruit, pizza, and bread. Every month we feed 1,500 to 2,000 people.
